Cannabis/Marijuana/Hemp – What is What?
Both Marijuana & Hemp are separate strands derived from the Cannabis plant. The difference between Marijuana & Hemp is the makeup in chemical compounds known as cannabinoids.
The Marijuana Plant is commonly identified as having anything above 0.2% THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). THC contains the psychoactive properties that are generally associated with the Cannabis plant, giving the sensation of feeling “high”.
The hemp plant generates no more than 0.2% THC, containing no psychoactive properties. Hemp has recently been increasing in popularity for its growing availability in products such as oils, food and even clothes.

What is CBD?
Firstly, CBD does not get you high!
CBD is short for Cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is 1 of approximately 113 different chemical compounds known as Phytocannabinoids found in the infamous Cannabis plant. The two most widely recognised compounds of the Cannabis plant are CBD & THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol).
The key difference between these two compounds are simple. THC contains the psychoactive properties that are generally associated with the Cannabis plant, giving the sensation of feeling “high”. CBD on the other hand has no psychoactive properties.
CBD, what’s all the hype?
So, we all know why THC is so popular, but why CBD?
The human body is made up of an array of enzymes & receptors that make up a specific biological system known as the Endocannabinoid System.
The Endocannabinoid System is built up with Endocannabinoids which act as neurotransmitters, binding to external Cannabinoid receptors or proteins such as the Phytocannabinoids we mentioned, including CBD. Research suggests that the Endocannabinoid System can play a significant role in influencing & regulating cognitive & physiological processes with an array of benefits that can constitute to maintaining mental & physical wellbeing.
Are Hemp Seed Oil & CBD Rich Hemp Oil the same thing?
Hemp Seed Oil is not the same as CBD Rich Hemp Oil. Hemp Seed Oil is extracted from crushed Hemp seeds of a Cannabis Sativa plant. It is rich in nutrients, bioactive compounds and amino acids but does not have the same chemical compounds found in the hemp flower, such as CBD. On this basis it does not offer the same benefits.
Do Setyl Infusions products contain THC?
Setyl Infusions CBD is essentially THC free. CBD is extracted from a cannabis plant and this extract will inevitably contain at least a minimal trace traces of other cannabinoids such as THC.
Our products are always laboratory tested with accredited 3rd party laboratories to ensure compliance with UK regulations, meaning no more than 1mg of THC per dose. This amount of THC is so small that it cannot make you feel the psychoactive sensation commonly associated with marijuana plant. We just care about quality.
How our CBD is produced?
- Our Hemp is grown in licensed, organic farms in the USA.
- It is then crushed into Hemp Powder inside a Mill before the chemical compounds are stripped using Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA).
- Once the IPA has evaporated it leaves the concentrate that is purified into a crude oil form.
- The Crude Oil is then Decarboxylated, activating the CBD compound.
- The CBD is distilled, removing waxes, chlorophyll & other impurities whilst increasing in purity.
- This is then verified through rigorous testing carried out from an External Laboratory.
Is CBD Legal in the UK?
Cannabis is classified as a Class B substance due to its’ common inclusion of high doses of THC. Nonetheless, CBD is 100% legal in the UK as long as its’ produced with real Hemp plants from certified, organic hemp farms.
THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is illegal (under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971) and any CBD product that is being sold in the UK must derive from hemp plants with no more than 0.2% trace amounts of THC content or less and under 1mg of THC per dose. It’s highly important that all CBD products are laboratory tested by accredited 3rd party testing laboratories to verify Cannabinoid levels do not exceed their legal threshold.

What is Water Soluble CBD?
It is common knowledge that Oil doesn’t mix well with water. Our body is predominantly made up of water and therefore conventional CBD Rich Hemp Oil’s lose an alarming amount of CBD content before truly reaching the bloodstream.
Water Soluble CBD follows a process of breaking the CBD down into tiny particles so that the human body can absorb it more effectively. This allows for a much faster absorption rate & for a significantly higher CBD content to reach the bloodstream. This is known as maximising Bioavailability.
That’s not all! With tiny CBD particles more effectively absorbing into the bloodstream; our versatile CBD is designed to be mixed with food & drink without losing its’ potency! A trademark of our signature ‘Water Emulsion’.
Are there any side effects?
The Setyl Infusions team understand that everybody is different, and CBD does not affect everybody equally. We highly recommend starting with a low dosage, giving your body time to adjust. Research suggest that side effects can sometimes include:
- Light-Headed
- Drowsiness
- Low Blood Pressure
- Dry Mouth
All of our product batches are laboratory tested to ensure they are free from preservatives, additives, insecticides, pesticides, heavy metals or herbicides to ensure the safety of our customers. If you are unsure, please consult your doctor before consumption.
Will Setyl Infusions products fail on a drug test?
CBD is not currently listed on the World Anti-Doping Agency prohibited list; therefore, it will not contribute to a failed drug test & can be used in competitive sport. On the contrary there are other cannabinoids closely related to CBD, most notably THC, that are prohibited. THC has a threshold of 150 nanograms per millilitre of urine.
Our products are laboratory tested to ensure that they contain no higher than the legal threshold of 1mg THC per product, this is such a miniscule amount that should not fail any drug test. It is recommended that all athletes do their own research before consumption of any CBD products.
